Songs From the Heart was recorded live at County Wicklow’s Powerscourt Estate, and the grand setting gives the performance a sense of occasion—helped by the vast accompanying choral, drum and bagpipe ensembles. Celtic Woman do traditional and pop songs with equal aplomb: Opener “Fields of Gold” is an intimate demonstration of the group's harmonies, while “Amazing Grace” is muscular and full of feeling. The arrangements, too, are impressive: strings take centre stage in “The New Ground / Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears”, while a choir adds depth to “My Lagan Love”.
