I wouldn't play this alone on a dark night...

It should be considered that the album's opener 'Ave Satani' is the single most chilling piece of music ever written! Regardless of whether you've caught the movie or not (Omen 1 - excellent, Omen 2 - very good as sequels go, Omen 3 - ah well, at least the cast Sam Neil, Omen IV - why??), just listening to it is enough to unnerve anyone. I believe Mr Goldsmith picked up an Oscar for this and quite rightly. If the 2006 remake has the audacity to replace the music, its gonna take a genius to be as good as this.

The Omen as an Opera

The Music made the film. Very rarely does a soundtrack possess a film. It is almost like the film is based around the music. It from a golden era of Movie making in this genre. But The Omen i believe to be the most powerful of that time and that is down to its soundtrack. Its calming then it is completely nasty and dramatic. Nothing compares to it. Sure The Exorcist was an awesome movie, but the soundtrack although rememberable not fitting to the film. If you want to see a horror film without watching it, buy The Omen Soundtrack.

Oh my God!

What can I say?... Jerry Goldsmith is a certified genius - this album alone proves it. Going from fairly peaceful pieces straight through to horrific Satanic nastiness... The first track is so gut-wrenchingly unnerving, the spooky choral stuff... The film would not have been the same without this soundtrack. Genius.
