A fine introduction to the world of Roy Harper

You can't really go wrong with this collection of classics spanning the seventies output of Roy Harper. Another Day will gently draw you in, quickly followed by the more lengthy cuts from the "Stormcock" album. Bank Of The Dead introduces us to the "Lifemask" album, South Africa still sends shivers for me, pure Roy. Twelve Hours Of Sunset is this complilation's representation of 1974's "Valentine". Listening to the intro on the live version (Flashes From The Archives Of Oblivion) of this explain the title, go seek it out...... To finish there are selections from HQ and Bullinamingvase, HQ is a more band orientated cut while the latter is a mix of solo Roy and band. The listener should use this compilation as a springboard to Roys vast back catalogue. Always surprising, forever welcoming and never the same old rock.....enjoy. Oh, and thank you Roy!

A lost god.

This guy is dynamite. The album Stormcock was his masterpiece and I want 'Me And My Woman' to be played at my funeral in respect of my lovely, loving wife. 'The Same Old Rock' is worth the download price on its own. Thanks, Roy

Magical

For anyone unfamiliar with Roy Harper this is a good sampler and I would recommend it to all. His lyrics and guitar style is simply Genius. In 30yrs+ I have never tired of listening to Roy and if I live another 30+ I'm sure I'll be saying and writing the same things. I'd like to sum up in one word but being who I am, and knowing Roy Harpers music, I just have to use two, Magical & Genius....
