The Gedge Returns

Great first release from the impressive and eclectic new album El Rey (although for my money it probably should have been Spiderman on Hollywood). Shame it's only available as a download though - I'm sure the collectors out there would prefer something more tactile. The album, out at the end of May, is going to appeal to 'proper' Weddoes fans as well as those who prefer the more laid-back, cinematic Cinerama, but even though it is Albini produced don't expect a Seamosters Part two - it's much more like Take Fountain or Saturnalia than that dark, brooding masterpiece.

The Thing I Like Best About This Single Is

the different styles of the mixes. The Jet Age mix is the punchiest and pips the Santa Monica version. I can't understand why radio weren't all over this. it's a great pop song - catchy melody, Gedgesque lyrics and the duet is perfect. What's wrong with their ears??
