Lush - ous

'Scar' is an EP straight from the golden age of 4AD's eminence as an Indie Label. What a find this was for me at the tender age of 14. 'Baby Talk's thunderous drum and bass intro with lashings of cymbal dovetails into a spiky barrage of tuneless guitar - awesome. Miki's vocals are menacingly neutral, much better here than the pseudo-Cocteau Twins bliss-pop la-la-la crooning she eventually adopted later on 'Spooky'. 'Thoughtforms' and 'Etheriel' are classic shoegazers but 'Bitter' and 'Second Sight' will appeal to those who prefer a sharper edge to their indie-pop. I loved this EP and still do. Buy it.
