Unforgettable!!

From the opening four chords full of menace to the iconic theme—and everything in between—Barry Gary’s masterful score for this 1960s British children’s show is the stuff of legend. Ranging in tone from Wagnerian epic to camp comedy to smooth jazz, Gray’s thrilling and amazingly sophisticated music, with its rich and elegant orchestrations, had kids on the edge of their seats every Saturday afternoon.

It is hard to imagine a more perfect marriage of visuals and music. With Thunderbirds, Gray achieved something quite remarkable—taking a children’s puppet show to an adult level of sensibility unmatched before or since.

All British children of the 60s should have this in their collection, not only for the nostalgia value but also for the sheer genius of Gray’s work—highly recommended!
