Aynsley seems woefully under recognised in the UK. A skilled songsmith. excellent guitarist and good live act (even better with the new line up). This album has a harder edge - check out 'What's it all about' 'Running on Empty' and Hurricane'. If you like well written blues/rock, with some subtley as well, then give this a listen. This is a good album and Aynsely deserves more recognition.

I AGREE WITH THE GRUMPY OLD MAN!!

Aynsley has a fantastic back catalogue and this one sits there near the top. Joe B (who is awesome) gets all of the attention in the music press but Aynsley is just as deserving and he is home grown. I think Equilibrium is it a little more commercial than previous albums so maybe this is the one that will set him on the way to true stardom. If you have'nt seen him live then I can assure you it will be money well spent.Buy the album and go and see him ASAP!!

crisis what crisis?

I cant fault the quality, its musical, skilled and I am willing to bet he is very good indeed live. But the problem here is that there are too many genres in one place. So the whole is less than the sum of the parts and it feels like he is constantly demonstrating his musical and songwriting talent (unnecessarily) rather than letting the songs breathe with the music and speak a style for themselves. He could easily release separate aor, country, blues style albums and they would all be well reviewed. But here these multiple and considerable talents are all mixed together and the focus on a style is lost in translation. The audience for such a broad church is limited which is a probable barrier to the credit he deserves. You have to be Supertramp or above to get away with this much variation - he could easily do it one day, he has the talent.
