Fantastic album

This is one of my favourite (if not my overall favourite) McCartney post-Beatles albums. I can't recommend it enough. It was not a critical or commercial success (by his standards), for some unfathomable reason. It's got all his trademarks - great melodies, a mix of raunchy rock numbers and haunting ballads, great vocals by the man himself and a range of musical styles that showcase the sheer breadth of McCartney's talent.

Just listened to this album again after nearly 20 years. It was pretty much a non event in its time, but listening to it now it matches up to Band on the Run and Venus and Mars. From the rocky refrains of Old Siam Sir, to the jazz infused Baby's Request, this is a master at work (although not all his works are masterpieces!) I had forgotten just how rocky the album was and how 'punk' songs like Spin it On were. For the regular Macca fan Winter Rose and After the Ball are superb ballads. The man's voice is probably the most raucous it ever was post Beatles, and is so much the better for it. You remember that he is a rocker first and foremost and the overly slick stuff of the late seventies and early eighties doesn't match this. Well worth a belated listen!

Fantastic Album!

This really is a fantastic album, maybe not in the same league as band on the run but still one worth owning, it has a great mix of songs from soft jazzy songs like Baby's Request, to complete rockers like Old Siam, Sir, definitely worth a listen

Denny Laine, a former guitarist for the Moody Blues, and drummer Denny Seiwell filled out the lineup and Wings released their first album, Wild Life, in December 1971. Wild Life was greeted with poor reviews and was a relative flop. McCartney and Wings, which now featured former Grease Band guitarist Henry McCullough, spent...
