Interesting and for a good cause

It's clear that listening to 'This Is The Time' that it's far from anything Epica have done in the past, yet they manage to succeed in creating another beautiful song. Going from Symphonic Metal to Acoustic can be a huge risk but it is just a single and for a very good cause.

The song manages to make you think about what Epica wanted you to think about and as with most Epica songs, it really touches and speaks to you. Simone's vocals are top-notch as usual and the melody is very soothing and quite beutiful.

Along with the video it comes with 2 new versions of older songs. The first is the Unleashed duet version with Amanda Somerville which was released as a bonus track on 'Design Your Universe' but now features an incredible new intro. As for Amanda on the song, I don't feel her vocals are strong enough for a good fit but it's still something different.

There is also the track 'Living A Lie' from Epica's 3rd album 'The Divine Conspiracy', however, this replaces Mark Jansen's grunts in the first 2 versus with a new melody and new lyrics sung by Simone and it is arguably a far better version than the original.
