Quietly emerging

Lisa Hannigan is the reason I looked for this album. If you've heard her sing live, or on the backing vocals for volcano by Damien Rice you too should realise that she has an amazingly soulful voice. Strong, yet encompassing the fragility that it so rare in contemperary music. To compare her to other artists seems flippant, references to Joni Mitchell and Billie Holiday are mentioned but do not do Lisa justice. Here is an artist who has the potential to become more than a backing vocalist. One day i hope she will.

Lovely Song

Warrior cries

Damien and lisa superbly submerge your senses in the ice cold water of the plight of the beautiful Aung San Suu Kyi. May all the people of Burma be free from suffering.

After a brief respite in Europe, Rice returned to Dublin to focus on music once again, scrounging...
