Artist and Album Notes

David Keith Jones was a chorister in Wales then became a band drummer. He began vocal training at university in England then later led an opera group in St Albans. He was coached by Gerald Davies, former principal tenor at Sadlers Wells. David sang roles including Don Jose, Alfredo and Rodolfo plus Elgar's Gerontius with diverse companies. He also took play leads including Aykbourn's Gosforth. Coming late to recording, David gained a million hits on You Tube by 2011 and has produced a number of varied albums. These tracks with their moderate keys and tempi should prove useful to learners and those wishing to work alone. Also useful could be the companion album 'Arie Antiche - Piano' which contains David's accompaniment tracks matching this album. For more information: Google: David Keith Jones

Impressive Rendering

I have followed David's work since 2010. He is new to the global audience and deserves a wider hearing. His fluency in these songs my come (according to the artist notes) from his roles in opera and oratorio. David shows firm, clear tone and a sureness of expression thoughout the album, and it merits its high ranking. I also note his new album 'Arie Antiche - Piano' which appears to be gaining even quicker success. It comprises the twenty-four piano accompaniments developed by David for this vocal album. Hence it could be useful to singers who wish to practise or record alone.

Good value

David has the right Italianate voice and empathy for these songs. His backing is accurate and supportive rather than ornate. This is what a singer wants. I enjoyed these renderings and feel that the album competes with the best.
