Customer Reviews

Now we're talking....nineteen to the dozen...

If you're going to buy a Ben Elton album, there's a little rule of thumb that will see you right. The earlier back you go, the funnier Ben becomes. It's like some inverse relationship, time-travel thing - It's like Ben Elton was born the funniest man alive and gradually as he got older, he lost more and more and more of his gift. The 2007 album was pretty much Ben bringing together ten years of off-circuit gripes in a lukewarm performance. The 1997 album saw him jussst about holding on to relevance, but beginning to get obssessive about the smaller things in his own life. 1993, and this album, saw Ben Elton still at, if not the top of his game, then close enough to make you laugh and think and want to be a slightly better, more responsible hippy at the end of the disc. This is worth £8 of anyone's money. Now come on iTunes - do us all a favour and add the 80s albums - MotorMouth and Motorvation - to the site, eh? There are people alive today who think Ben Elton's JUST the old bloke responsible for We Will Rock You, and that's not a fair legacy for anyone, let alone someone who used to be as funny as Elton did.
