Album Review

Performing Jefferson Airplane: Woodstock is comprised of nine tracks recorded at Del Mar Fairgrounds in California on June 12, 2009. This is the latter-day lineup of the group with guitarists Paul Kantner and David Frieberg being the only original members. Vocalist Cathy Richardson does an admirable job re-creating the parts that Grace Slick originally sang. Several familiar favorites are here including “Somebody to Love," “White Rabbit," and “Volunteers," in addition to two tracks by special guest and former Grateful Dead pianist Tom Constanten — "Deal," and "I Know You Rider." While the performances aren't bad, this is recommended only to hardcore collectors.
