iTunes Review

Jon Bon Jovi may be getting older, his voice weathered by age, but he isn’t backing down from the anthemic rock of his youth. “We Weren’t Born to Follow” continues in his “rock as defiance” stance, while offering up a comfortable, conventional arena-rock anthem with a singalong chorus. “Work for the Working Man” shades towards the populism of John Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen with its Sam Cooke chain-gang grunts backing a lush, modern-rock production. “Brokenpromiseland” continues in this worldview, where the deep recession of the new century is omnipresent. “When We Were Beautiful”, “Superman Tonight”, the slow unwind of “Fast Cars”, among the highlights, elicit the echo chambers of U2, evoking their deep seriousness, even as Bon Jovi himself sounds like a teenager in love. “Live Before You Die” has a Tim McGraw-like mortality tale hitched to its Jersey Camaro. The straightforward drive of “Thorn In My Side” is compressed into a wall of tension. The band settle in behind, offering grand harmonies while their veteran arrangements sound like second nature by now.

they're back with a bang baby!

Its been a long time since i have loved every single song on an album by any artist, never mind just albums by bon jovi, and this album just really does 'it' for me, i just can't stop playing it again and again and again. Tico keeps a great beat to tap to and david bryan does his stuff on the keyboard (which i know nothing about cos im a musical fail)

What i love about this album is the purity of jons voice, you can really here him singing in every track (and he has my favourate rock voice by far) and also the tone from Richie's guitar is so overstated its amazing and as always it really goes with jons voice so well.

personal favs: ermm all of em? yup definitely every single song!
personal weaknesses: none

all in all this album seems to be a lot more finished then the albums we've been hearing over the past few years, it appears that all band members have worked really hard with every song and the result is amazing modern original bon jovi rock.

can't wait for the next album tho this one will surely keep me for at least a couple of decades yet.

10/10 by far

ps sorry for the cheesey title, yay i can do alliteration :P

This Album Is Amazing Bon Jovi U Rock

The OLD Bon Jovi is back!

After the brief spell of Lost Highway, Bon jovi has returned to their roots and created another amazing albumn. The Songs Bullet, Work for the Working Man, When we were Beautiful and We Weren't born to Follow....are epic.

Some say 'When we were beautiful' is better than Always though I personally think that is a step too far but don't get me wrong it is a Good song.

All in all a great albumn and I am glad Bon Jovi listened to their fans.

Lastly, a special mention to Happy Now and Thorn in My side, which are definitely growing on me.

After ushering in the era of pop-metal with their 1986 blockbuster Slippery When Wet and its hit singles "You Give Love a Bad Name," "Wanted Dead or Alive," and "Living on a Prayer," Bon Jovi wound up transcending the big-haired '80s, withstanding changes in style and sound to become one of the biggest American rock bands of their time — selling over 120 million albums worldwide and sustaining their popularity well into the new millennium. As the times changed, so did the band's sound. They...
