generally excellent, but not without flaws

I've been looking forward to this album for a very long time and so, to do it justice, i'm going to rate every tune individually and give a little comment for each one. I was surprised by vol. 8, certain elements were a lot stronger than i thought, though there are a couple of areas that it falls down.

DISC 1
Alquimia - Parker & Hanson -> great opening, melodic and relaxing (7/10)
Stranded in NYC - Duderstadt -> largely forgettable, weakest track on the compilation (5/10)
Let Go - Aruna & Mark Eteson -> nice vocals but a bit bland (6/10)
Chordplay - Oliver Smith -> similar to the Duderstadt track imo, a bit forgettable
Keyboard Cowboys - Boom Jinx & Andrew Bayer -> really deep, excellent track (9/10)
Anphonic - Above and Beyond & Kyau and Albert -> starts well and hits hard, though should probably hit harder (8/10)
Rush - Arty -> a decent tune, quite understated, this mix is not as good as the Dan Stone mix and this is overshadowed by Wonder (7/10)
Chasing Love - Maor Levi -> solid tune, nice vocals but nothing special, nice to see Maor back on the scene after an enforced absence
Black is the New Yellow - Super8 & Tab -> really good tune, another good 'un (8/10)
From the Earth (Breakfast Mix) - Andrew Bayer -> the best tune on Disc 1 and arguably the best track on the entire compilation, deep and moving, actually reminded me of space travel and the like while listening. Epic (10/10)
90 Nights of Summer - Bart Claessen -> lovely tune, sounds great and will no doubt be a staple in many live sets to come (8/10)
On a Good Day (Metropolis) - Above and Beyond vs Gareth Emery -> i'm not a fan of mash-ups personally and this doesn't really do it for me, decent tune but worth its place here, probably not (6/10)
7 Years (feat. Asedo) - Thomas Datt -> really like this one, great tune (8/10)
Piece of Me - Daniel Kandi -> disappointing from DK, both his tracks on this album (one on disc 2 as well) sound like everything else he has done in the past, wish he'd try something a little different as this sounds very samey (6/10)

DISC 2
A Farewell (Intro Edit) - Andrew Bayer -> simply beautiful (8/10)
The Taxi Driver - Andrew Bayer -> another great tune from AB, not quite as good as From the Earth, but still an excellent track (9/10)
The Wonder - Arty -> great tune by Arty, makes up for the rather lacklustre Rush
Sushi - 7 Skies -> really deep, defintely going to be a live hit! perhaps a little too deep for Anjunabeats, would probably be more at home on an Anjunadeep compilation, but still an excellent tune (8/10)
Live Forever (Mat Zo Dub) - Lange -> my favourite Lange tune made better (9/10)
We.Are - Who.Is -> a decent tune, unfortunate to be surrounded by two of the best tracks (7/10)
Thing Called Love (Club Mix) - Above and Beyond -> simply brilliant, deep and powerful, though moving as well, excellent lyrics and given the A&B finishing touches. The best tune on the album and a shoo-in for Tune of the Year without a doubt. (10/10)
Larry Mountains 54 (Juventa Remix) - David West - a really good tune, have heard good things about this track and can now see why (8/10)
Altara - Adam Nickey -> melodic and peaceful, nothing special but a solid tune (7/10)
Forgive Me - Daniel Kandi -> as previously mentioned i'm not a fan of either of the Kandi tunes on this album, though this one is stronger than Piece of Me (7/10)
Mercy (Extended Mix) - Super8 & Tab -> great vocals, great beat, great tune. (9/10)
Alt+F4 (Dan Stone Remix) - Alt+F4 -> a good tune improved by DS, like this a lot! (8/10)
Dreamcatcher (Club Mix) - Nitrous Oxide -> Been out for a while but still a great tune (8/10)
Sky Falls Down - Oceanlab & Passive Progressive -> a good tune but rather old now, this adds nothing new and it seems to be simply here to make up the numbers (6/10)

Continuous Mixes - Disc 2 is certainly stronger than Disc 1, but both are generally excellent and well worth a decent listen!

Lonely Girl (Mike Shivers Catching Sun Mix) - Oceanlab -> the iTunes bonus track, much like Sky Falls Down doesn't really add anything, in my opinion makes a good track worse. Not for me sadly (5/10)

Several things to mention to finish; as previously mentioned Disc 2 is stronger than Disc 1, though D2 ends rather disappointingly with a couple of remixes of older tracks rather than good new ones, also there are a few of tracks which i view as flops (Stranded in NYC, Chordplay, Piece of Me, Lonely Girl remix). Overall though this would definitely get an 8/10, though its just a shame they couldn't have added a couple more tunes to replace the old Oceanlab mashups/remixes to make the whole album that bit stronger!

I'm in love!

Been psyched to get this album for a while, and well worth it! In my opinion, Disc 2 is stronger than Disc 1, but both are awesome! Intro tracks are brilliant, and a major fan of 'Keyboard Cowboys', Maor's new track, 'Seven Years' and the revamped 'On A Good Day'.

'Altara', 'Mercy', 'Live Forever' and 'We.Are' are all awesome tracks on Disc 2, but of course 'Thing Called Love' is the winner by my reckoning! Anyway, in essence another epic production from Above & Beyond, and HIGHLY recommended to everyone!

The PERFECT trance album!

I've been waiting for this album with such anticipation and have certainly not been let down. This album is the best ever, exactly how trance should be! Another superb release from Anjunabeats! Glad to see all the Anjuna regulars like Super8 & Tab, Oliver Smith, Nitrous Oxide, Daniel Kandi producing some wonderful tracks, and glad to see Maor Levi back with my personal fave 'Chasing Love'. Above & Beyond's collab with Kyau & Albert is huge and 'Thing Called Love' is beautiful! A great listen from start to finish!
