Album Review

This two-disc, 39-track condensation of the 74-track four-disc At the BBC is nice, managing to hit all the true highlights from the larger set, including covers of Ronnie Lane's "The Poacher" and Manfred Mann's "Pretty Flamingo." This does make this sampler worthwhile for fans who don't want to purchase the larger set, as it does offer the best portions of the box, but it's also true that if you're serious enough of a fan to want this material, it's probably best to go all the way and invest in the full four-disc box set.

the modfather rides again

weve heard these songs so many times ,still sounds like an angel plucking a harp full of memories of happy days and concerts in the cold the modfather keeps it going for ever from a fan

More of the same ... it's great but a bit of an unrequired compilation

I've been a fan since the age of 10 / 11 (as The Jam were about to split) and saw Paul Weller a few years back (Heavy Soul era). Too be fair I've not heard too many duff tracks over the last (almost) 30 years. However, I am getting a bit tired of all these reissues and compilations. My collection already consists of Live Wood / The Live Cd that came with the Greatest Hits / Days of Speed AND Catch - Flame! Plus a couple of live DVDs and the double DVD sets of The Jam / Style Council AND the solo stuff .... Even 22 Dreams is an exotic combination of styles that works , this though is testing my patience. Who makes the decision to keep on releasing live material like this ? Grrrr I'm angry now !

Can't get enough!

I'll continue to buy and more importantly listen too anything they release from the genius Weller... some great versions on these BBC recordings with some rare ones too! If you like Paul Weller BUY IT!!

As the leader of the Jam, Paul Weller fronted the most popular British band of the punk era, influencing legions of English rockers ranging from his mod revival contemporaries to the Smiths in the '80s and Oasis in the '90s. During the final days of the Jam, he developed a fascination with Motown and soul, which led him to form the sophisti-pop group the Style Council in 1983. As the Style Council's career progressed, Weller's interest in soul developed into an infatuation with jazz-pop and house...
