Imaginative compilation - Well worth it!

Finding a 70s and 80s compilation of disco, soul, funk and pop tracks is quite rare these days as most usually have the same old track listings. In all, they are extremely predictable.

This collection though, isn't full of obscure, non-charting American hits either - it's based on the UK market and releases (whether they charted or not). Plus the fact that proper 7 inch versions have been dig out makes it super-special to pop fans like myself.

A rich scattering of minor hits and non-charting follow-ups will educate some people - e.g. Andrea True Connection's 1976 hit 'More, More, More' is in there, but also her next (minor) hit from 2 years later 'What's Your Name, What's Your Number' is included too. The 7 inch of GQ's 'Disco Nights' and Dan Hartman's 'This Is It' are some of the examples of a great effort being made to include the edit versions and not being lazy by slapping on the - usually longer - album versions.

If this is music is from your generation you'll surely appreciate what I mean when you read the track listing and hear the songs as you'd have heard them being played on the radio at the time. Still can't beat playing the vinyl though, but this is a great digital copy to have.

Well done to all involved - a refreshing change to a compilation for once.
