Another Music in a Different Kitchen (Special Edition)

Another Music in a Different Kitchen (Special Edition)

Manchester’s Buzzcocks represented the melodic end of British punk rock. Their singles were short bursts of punk-pop magic. “Orgasm Addict”, “What Do I Get?” and “Oh S**t” are featured here among the tracks from their debut album where their attack expands. “I Don’t Mind” crackles with the band’s concise spiky approach. “Moving Away From the Pulsebeat”, however, spends seven minutes channeling the group’s interest in the repetitive, hypnotic, grinding riffs and rhythms of Krautrock and Can, in particular. This special editon includes the 1978 album with previously unreleased tracks, including demos, John Peel sessions and live versions from the Electric Circus, just as the band were becoming well known in the U.K. The demos showcase a band already in full command of their power. Only the finishing touches are missing. The John Peel tracks are more mannered than the live versions from Electric Circus where they speed things up and head towards chaos. Yet the band remains intact. Brilliant.
