Rick Springfield is Simply a Genius

Another fantastic album from Rick, I honestly can't believe why this guy is not as mainstream now as he was in the 80's! There was always this dumb confusion between Rick and Bruce Springsteen because their names were allegedly similar??? Ok, well let me point out the biggest difference, Rick Springfield is the one with energy, excitement, great riffs, catchy melodies, great lyrics and an awesome voice. Bruce Springsteen is the other one. I disagree with another poster who praises Saint Sahara as for me this is my least favourite track on the album but the remaining 12 tracks just blow me away. Notable highlights include 'Oblivious', 'Mr PC', 'Time Stand Still' and the John Lennon/Mark Chapman inspired '3 Warning Shots'. Not to mention the studio version of 'Who Killed Rock N' Roll' As another reviewer pointed out Rick his in his 50's in fact, pretty close to 60 and this guy can seriously rock! From a UK fan of 25 years I can honestly say this is probably Rick's finest album and he has made some seriously fine albums in the last 35 years. I just wish there were more fans in the UK to warrant a tour from the man! I can guarantee if you buy this album you will want to explore Rick's music some more. Excellent! If you enjoy this check out, 'Shock, Denial, Anger, Acceptance' Simon UK

Rick Springfield & Matt Bissonette, What a Partnership!

Got this album yesterday and have barely stopped playing it. A few months ago I stared replacing my old RS albums with the CD versions. I am ashamed to say that I was unaware that Rick was still recording and that his more recent stuff was even better than "living In Oz" & Tao. There is something for everyone on this album, rock, ballards, reflective songs, you name it. For me, the best would be She, Warning Shots, Venus In Overdrive, Who Killed Rock N' Roll & What's Victoria's Secret. Two of the songs (God Blinked & Saint Sahara) are about the premature death with cancer of Sahara Aldridge, (a young teenage fan and) someone that all the band were very familiar with and fond of. Rather than being sad and mournful songs they are actually uplifting. My only dissapointment is that "Pretty Little Mess" (although supposedly an iTunes exclusive album track) is seemingly not available to the UK, maybe its a US only thing ?? ( or may just be me!) I just can't see how you would regret buying this album as it is very well rounded. Well worth investigating too is "Shock, Denial, Anger, Acceptance" as a previous reviewer mentioned, and "Day After Yesterday", which is an album of covers and really shows off his vocal range.

The Man Is Back

I got this album last week in the states, What an Album, I have been a fan since Working Class Dog, This is the best album he has ever made, For a man in his late fifties his voice puts many a younger artist to shame , He has never sounded better, If you are new to his music, buy this album and start a collection from Working Class Dog, you wont be disapointed.

Although Rick Springfield's music was frequently dismissed as vapid teen idol fare, his best moments have actually withstood the test of time far better than most critics would ever have imagined, emerging as some of the most well-crafted mainstream power pop of the 1980s. A singer-turned soap opera star-turned singer, Springfield was born Richard Springthorpe on August 23, 1949, in Sydney, Australia, to a military man; the family moved around Australia and England a great deal during Rick's childhood,...
