So powerful

The best audio art I have ever experienced

Very positive new release

'When you're gone' presents to us as much as you would expect from an artist on the Brainfeeder label in 2012. There is nothing particularly surprising about the record and yet each song seems have it's own delicate, unique quality to it. The individual sounds are not unlike that of the producers' counterpart Teebs, being so clear they seem almost tangible and so frantically arranged that it adds a real feeling of unpredictability to the tracks. It is undeniably one of the most successful and appropriate EP's in recent months for UK garage. Lapalux has been bold with his most recent release but it was a necessary step and an exciting taster of what else the Essex producer has in store.

Stuart Howard is an Essex-based bedroom producer who creates lo-fi electronic music as Lapalux, short for "Lap of Luxury." He started his career releasing short cassettes under that name, with 2008's Forest followed by Many Faces Out of Focus in 2011. The latter was an expressive ambient release that caught the ear of Flying Lotus at Brainfeeder Records, who signed Lapalux to his label for two EPs in 2012, Some Other Time and When You're Gone.
