Brilliant production/wonderful songwriting

Great album from the maestro that is Todd Rundgren. The height of his production career he really is showing us all how it's done.

Second Wind (title track)

The title track Second Wind is essential listening not just for fans of the maestro that is Todd Rundgren but anyone interested in high quality rock/pop, the way it used to be done. This song has everything going on: fusion riff to absolutely die for, pop mastery, prog dexterity and an unstoppable energy and enthusiasm that draws you in.

Todd Rundgren's best-known songs -- the Carole King pastiche "I Saw the Light," the ballads "Hello, It's Me" and "Can We Still Be Friends," and the goofy novelty "Bang on the Drum All Day" -- suggest that he is a talented pop craftsman, but nothing more than that. On one level, that perception is true since he is undoubtedly a gifted pop songwriter, but at his core, Rundgren is a rock & roll maverick.
