Being a consumate fan of Jan Garbarek's music for many years now, this has to be one of my favourite albums from the seemingly endless list of albums that this wonderful musician has produced in collaboration with so many other wonderful musicians. It evokes for me a sense of nostalgia in those fleeting moments in life that are normally forgotten, but that intimately glue life's experiences together and forming the substance of memory. If you are relatively new to this kind of experimental jazz fusionism (my terms entirely) then you may at first be put off and intimidated by the seeming discordance and improvisory nature of some of the tracks of this album such as 'White Cloud' and 'Red Roof', as I was long ago, but there is precision, balance and a very clear intent that is projected into the story told within the pages of this complex musical photo album. I love it. My only criticism, like many experiences in life is that it is just too short. All the more reason to listen to it over and over again!
