Album Review

Use Your Illusion II is more ambitious than I, but it's also more pretentious. II is heavy on epics, whether it's the charging funk metal of "Locomotive," the antiwar "Civil War," or the multi-part "Estranged,” which are balanced with corrective lighter moments. "14 Years" may have a lean, Stonesy rhythm, and Duff McKagan's Johnny Thunders homage, "So Fine," may be entertaining, but GNR goes off the rails with ridiculous "Get in the Ring," where Axl Rose threatens rock journalists by name because they gave him bad reviews; a misinterpretation of Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"; and the bizarre paranoid closer, "My World." Yet there are numerous strengths to Illusion II, particularly those epics that play like a cross of Elton John and Freddie Mercury.

Great, second only to Appetite

A great album, different from the Appetite days, but still great. Civil War - Probably the best of the lot. Meaningful Lyrics too. 10/10 14 Years - Very nice, fells very happy, good piano work. 9/10 Yesterdays - Simple and effective - 9/10 Knockin' on Heavens Door - Feels like an epic, even thought its only 5 mins. 9/10 Get in the Ring - Different, but i like it. 9/10 Shotgun Blues - Finally a quicker, heavier song. Catchy but not great. 8/10 Breakdown - The first and worst of the three epics. 7/10 Pretty Tied Up - Again, its unique but it works 8/10 Locomotive - Another long one. Good. 8/10 So Fine - No. Not to keen - 6/10 Estranged - My god this is good, 9 and a half mins of quality - 10/10 You Could be Mine -Very Heavy. Would be worthy of a place on Appetite - 10/10 Dont Cry (Alt.Lyrics) - Love this song, dont care which version. - 10/10 My World - Horrible. Sort of addictive though :-) - 4/10 Quality would be a fair word. First six tracks and final 4 excluding 'my world' are top 9 songs

Abosulety outstanding!!!!!

you cannot get a greater collection than this "civil war" "you could be mine" "so fine" "dont cry" "yesterdays" stop reading this and buy it, FANTASTIC. you will never see a band as great as this in your lifetime

Despite the slanderous iTunes review of Guns N' Roses they ARE an awesome band who wrote and performed a large quantity of songs that both were technically fantastic and amazing to listen to. "Use Your Illusion, Vol 2." IS a brilliant album with out of 14 songs in my opinion 9 ARE outstanding! I think that this album is better than "Vol 1." so if you only want to buy one GET THIS!! ROCK ON xx

At a time when pop was dominated by dance music and pop-metal, Guns N' Roses brought raw, ugly rock & roll crashing back into the charts. They were not nice boys; nice boys don't play rock & roll. They were ugly, misogynistic, and violent; they were also funny, vulnerable, and occasionally sensitive, as their breakthrough hit, "Sweet Child O' Mine," showed. While Slash and Izzy Stradlin ferociously spit out dueling guitar riffs worthy of Aerosmith or the Stones, Axl Rose screeched out his...
