Welcome Back Zp!!!!!

How excited was I, when, after the initial devastation of losing Zp Theart from DragonForce, and the 2year silence upon his facebook page, there suddenly began to grow a core group upon his facebook page (Zp Theart (Official), if you are interested...) of strong believers in the surviving power of his rock vocals, and as one we stood to applaud when last Spring (2012) he broke his silence and reappeared with the news of a new band, new songs, a whole new concept, and an album featuring his own artwork and song-writing!!
The new band title, "I Am I" and new style of music and new heartfelt lyrics with themes of soul-searching, self-affirmation and renewal, especially in the likes of "King In Ruins" followed by "This Is My Life" and the general attack on the world of hatred, lies, and bitterness that is "Silent Genocide" speak of a man who has battled his way through loss, rejection, judgement and betrayal, faced a world of accusations and ignorance, only to rise above it all to stand tall on the backs of his true fans and followers, to have indeed found his own voice, which sounds so much better for the new wisdom infused into it. All the songs on the new album, and indeed, this aptly named cover of John Farnham's "You're The Voice" prophesy of great things to come and an exciting time ahead for all rock fans and especially true ZP Theart fans, that have matured with him over the years to put the past behind them, move on from his power-metal years in DragonForce, and accept the clearly defined new directions he is blasting his way forwards to.

I was lucky enough to be present at I Am I's debut gig in Birmingham 02 last May, which happened to co-incide with Zp's birthday, and remember being struck at the poignancy of his encore number, a cover of Queen's "Show Must Go On", and seeing a number of grown men moved to tears by the rousing anthem that was sung as one by the audience, and thinking to myself, here is a man, who will not be kept down...a day of re-birth, indeed.

His Live performances are as strong as ever, and the gratitude he expresses to his followers and new fans alike is ever present in his dialogue, and to those lucky enough to meet him afterwards. The other band members after some initial shuffling have settled into a core of strong musical support, and are a joy to watch on stage with him. To date I Am I have appeared at Bloodstock 2012, Hard Rock Hell 2012, been a support act for Ugly Kid Joe in their 2012 winter tour, and are currently billed as support for Skid Row on their UK tour 2013, and to appear at Download 2013 also, all within a year of their debut gig at Birmingham. This is what you might call indeed, an Event Horizon, when world's collide.

I can only suggest that if you are a fan of classic rock, new rock, hard rock, soft rock, or Zp in general, then purchase this album, this song, and a ticket for their nearest gig to wherever you are; hang on tight, this ride is about to get very fast, and very big....
