About Show N Prove

This Edinburgh, Scotland-raised hip-hop DJ-turned-producer made a name for himself on the U.K. scene following a 2005 credit on Baby Blue's autobiographical slice of grime, "Sometimes," and a subsequent relocation to London. After DJ'ing at home from the age of 11, he got his first gig at age 14 and began to hone his technical turntablist skills alongside an appreciation of classic material by Mobb Deep and Gang Starr. Show N Prove was the original name of a musical project formed with schoolmates, but it gradually became the Scot's solo moniker following an increase in the amount of bookings and production work that he put the name to. Collaborations with such London luminaries as Estelle, Sway, and Supar Novar helped to keep the ball rolling before a production credit on Benny Banks' 2012 single "Bada Bing" further raised his profile when it was released on the Warner-owned 679 Recordings. A remix of Jessie J's U.K. Top Five hit, "Wild," further spread the word before Show N Prove issued his debut solo single in July 2013. The infectious, skank-driven "Zimma Frame," featuring Takura, hit the U.K. charts that summer. ~ James Wilkinson
