Worthy of its Reputation

These two software applications are excellent. The graphical user interfaces are intuitive and the lists of synonyms, antonyms and definitions are extensive.

Please note The Chambers Thesaurus gives the oldest English spellings before newer ones. Therefore, users will find ‘organize’ in place of ‘organise’, but The Chambers Dictionary will give both spellings side by side. Also, American spellings are not listed before British ones in The Chambers Dictionary. Entries are found like so, ‘colour also (especially N American) color’.

I suggest to the developer the addition one feature to The Chambers Dictionary application, though. Please add audio recordings featuring Received Pronunciation. The competing Collins Dictionary application includes this feature and it helps learners of English perfect their speech.

Great dictionary - where’s the rest?

I use a Chambers hard copy and really like it. Bought the bundle but the thesaurus didn’t download and when I tried to check progress the icon disappeared. When I check the App Store it says already purchased. Reluctant to attempt deletion and reloading in case I lose the lot. Disappointed!
