Based on real stories from Iran between 1978-1981. In this cinematic adventure game you navigate this momentous revolution with only two weapons: your camera and your morality. You play as Reza, a photojournalist, where you get caught up by two opposing sides of the revolution. The fates of those around you hinge on the consequences of your choices.
Unlike anything you’ve played before, 1979 Revolution immerses players into a moving and engaging experience where a documentary and a game come together.

Having read Persepolis and seen (and read) Argo, both of which focus on the same period of Iran's history, I was interested to see this game on the App Store. Although the player's interaction is limited, similar to "cinematic" titles like Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain, the fact that this is all based on real events makes it much more compelling to me. The comparisons provided between photos taken in the game and real images from historic archives is brilliant and brings home the reality of the situation during the revolution. Conversational details, switching from English to Farsi and back again in a single sentence, all feel very well-observed and work without leaning too heavily on subtitles.
You basically have no real effect on anything, almost all the dialogue options get the exact same replies from npcs and the game just had you taking photos of things that it considers important. You can't just take your own pictures or chart your own path it's all on a track you have to follow and the only times you get different dialogue responses from the npcs is when you make the wrong choice and you die.
Absolutely an amazing game. Full console quality with no IAP. Runs perfectly on the iphone 7+ as well. So worth it.
