Great app if you're doing the 5:2 diet
Trust me the 5:2 diet works. I've lost over a stone in a month or so and believe me suffering on a diet for only 2 days out of 7 is win, win. But you do get stuck eating the same old stuff you know will keep you under 600 calories on fasting days. So I'm very happy to have a ton more recipes in this app. They're nicely categorised too. One tip: turn your ipad around to portrait to see the recipe photos in full. I cooked from this app pretty much immediately after purchase and actually found it's easier to cook from it that way round. Definitely highly recommended - this app will make the 5:2 diet that much easier.
Not very clever
This is supposed to be a giving you diet recipes as part of the 5:2 plan. While some of the recipes look very yummy, they are not singular portions. You choose the recipe you like the look of, that is within your calorie budget. You then view then recipe, which tells you that all the ingredients you need, will serve up to 4 or 6 people etc. Most people have trouble measuring and working out the correct portions for a singular serving, so I do not understand why this app has NOT done that?
This app could be great, but if you want to make a recipe for just you, then I would not get this app. I would get the books instead. At least these give you recipes for single portions, which is important when your trying to change your eating habits.
Doesn't always give serving number, eg chicken sate makes 10 but how many is a serving? Needs refining.
Also, I don't trust the calorie calculations. I made the watermelon with Feta cheese which is supposed to be 99 calories per serving, but the quantity of Feta per serving is 44g which is 81 calories, and the quantity of olive oil per serving is half a tablespoon which is 60 calories, adding up to 141 calories, before you even add the rest of the ingredients.
The calorie chart is almost unusable-for example, if you look up butter it doesn't give any units, just a choice of serving numbers, so if you select 1 you don't know 1 what--ounce? tablespoon? gram? teaspoon.
