WHAT’S NEW IN DRAW 4.7
Choose how double-tap works with your Apple Pencil (2nd Generation)
We’ve added a preference option to control double-tap on the latest iPad Pro with the new Apple Pencil. We think you’ll love adding this time-saving feature to your painting experience, and they even work in full-screen drawing mode. Choose from one of these options under your iPad’s settings for Adobe Draw:
• Switch between brush and eraser - If you find yourself using these two tools a lot, this option lets you work faster.
• Switch between current and last used brush - this allows you to use two brushes at once and switch quickly between them.
• Activate the color picker - If you want a quicker way to pick a color from the canvas, select this option. You can use this in full-screen mode, too!
• Zoom in or out - Zooming in and out of the canvas has never been easier! With this option, double- tap to view the full artwork, and double-tap again to zoom in and work on a detailed region of your painting.
• None - Don’t want to use this feature? That’s cool. Use this to turn the double-tap option off.
Send to Printer:
Now you can send your work directly to the printer from within the app. Simply tap on the share icon, select SHARE -> Image. You’ll be prompted on where to share. Be sure to select Print. Happy printing!
Ratings and Reviews
Adobe Draw can easily be overlooked, probably because the documentation is a bit sketchy even on the Adobe website , but don’t let that put you off.
Adobe Draw is a mobile app for the iPad which allows the user to transfer artwork with layers to Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
The paired down tools means that the user can concentrate on idea and art creation without worrying about learns lots of tools and menus , which is ideal for those wanting to get their feet wet with digital illustration.
I have taught myself how to use this app from online tutorials and just messing around with it and now that understand its idiosyncrasies and found techniques to get around them, it’s truly amazing and stress free to use in comparison to other apps which require a steep learning curve.
If you want to get anything done don’t bother
If you are a serious user this app will not meet your needs in it’s current state. The draw and brush interface initially seems promising and works brilliantly with Apple Pencil. This is where it stops. Once you’ve spent hours making some great vector art and you want to transfer it to Illustrator CC you’re promised with seamless integration however what you’re met with is a very hit and miss procedure with the send wheel spinning endlessly and nothing happening. The odd transfer works but this is very poor for a premium developers app which your £20 a month subscription to the latest version of Illustrator CC. It appears many on various forums are suffering with the same issue, all say use the latest versions, sign in and then out but alas nothing seems to work. Hours are wasted with a pencil making something you can’t use. Very disappointing and frustrating.
Great editable features, but limited output options and not comprehensive
Great editable features on things like pen shapes and flows, but no guides on the variables, so very hit and miss. You can spend far too long tweaking all the variables and still not get the desired pen effect. But above all, the save options are limited and not comprehensive. Anyone using this would, I assume need to save items for use in other projects as png file for example, however no option exists. So great, but very limited.
