Aipoly Vision can recognize 1,000 essential items for free, and many more through a subscription.

Not good at all

I wanted to tell which was the tv remote and which was the phone and it couldn't even do that. And colour spotting was way out.

What this really needs, is a "correct" button!

What this really needs, is a "correct" button, so when a user points their device at an object they already know, they can tell the app that it identified the object correctly. Perhaps the options could be something like, perfect, almost correct, completely wrong. The Teach Aipoly mode should be toggled in settings, as sometimes users won't always want to teach the app. As soon as I started playing with the app, the first thing I did was point my device at objects I already knew about, in order to test the app. I thought it would be very helpful if I could let the app know it had made a correct identification, which presumably would help the system learn better. As it currently stands, there is no way to let the system know that it has correctly identified an object. Four example, if I point my device at a washing machine, and the app identifies it, I could tell the app that it was correct. If thousands of other users point their devices at washing machines and also confirm a correct identification, the systems degree of certainty would presumably increase, regardless of brand. Washing machines usually look similar, even if they are different makes, Hotpoint or Whirlpool etc. Think of it as positive reinforcement.

It needs more work

Great intended app. Hope to see more apps like these to liberate more people in needs. Tried it out around our messy playroom of my SVI daughter's. The app said "tulle" when it's meant to be a doll in a dress made of tulle. It said "maraca" when it was a measuring spoon. And mostly "I am not sure". It did get "floor pattern" when I accidentally swept the phone in front of the carpet, but wouldn't it be more useful if it describes pattern a bit more? And I understand some VI people will be able to use the extra functions when you need to press a button for extra details, it'll be interesting to see how a blind person can be benefited if they ever can. Guess the app can still be useful when you are in a busy environment and trying to find out what's around, except you should only show one single object in front of the camera at one time.
