Could be good.... If it would only connect!
I like the appadvice site, but today I was so tired of constant time- outs that I decided to pay for the app, naively believing that I'd get a better and more consistent experience that way. Wrong! The 'home page' works...but it's hit or miss whether I get images. I've just tried several articles - I keep getting grey screens. I'd be annoyed but resigned if this app was free; as it is not, I'm a tad disgusted. My rating can be considered as a star for effort - because the app looks like it could be amazing - and a star for achievement. In short, to continue the educational metaphor, appadvice Could Do Better. A LOT better. Please sort out these connectivity issues, or make this app free!
Frustrating to use
Nice lists/guides, but I feel this app desperately needs a search function. At the moment, if you want to locate a guide or list for a particular type of app, you can't simply search for it within this app. Instead you need to browse the categories, which is extremely frustrating and time inefficient given that there are many categories, it is not always obvious what category a guide or app may be in, and within categories the guides and lists are not organised in alphabetical order.
For example, If I were trying to locate a guide or list on RSS readers, it would be better if I could simply type RSS in a search box to find the guide/list of RSS reader apps
iPhone version keeps crashing on startup
This used to be my go to app for finding out about new and updated apps. Unfortunately since the last update 2 months ago, it only works for a short while, sometimes a day, sometimes hours and then crashes on startup. The only remedy is to delete and reinstall. Then the process starts again. Despite reporting the problem as soon as it happened. There has been no progress in finding a solution. Their Twitter operator has no idea if or when this will be fixed and after a couple of emails support has no further info. A shame as this was good.
