Challenge the ancient gods who lurk beneath the waves.

GIZMODO: "With handcrafted visuals and an ethereal soundtrack, Aquaria looks, feels and plays just like a gothic fairy-tale. And it’s not just a loving pastiche of the classic 2D games of yesteryear. Aquaria brings the genre bang up to date with a fresh concept and a unique control system." (Gaming App of the Day)

POCKETGAMER: "Aquaria is absolutely gorgeous, and filled with clever ideas and smart puzzles. Both a calming splash in the sea and a frantic fight against the elements, it's an essential iPad game." (Top 10 iOS Games, November 2011)

TOUCHARCADE: "a gorgeous and well-produced title with a sharp emphasis on world-building and character growth." (Best iOS Games, November 2011)

EDGE MAGAZINE: "Aquaria’s gloomy caverns are a delight to explore, and, a rarity for a modern Metroidvanias, the designers don’t constantly lead the way for you."

Will you journey to the land beyond the surface and brave the dark sinister waters below? Will you defeat the ancient beings of Aquaria or fall prey to them? Will you find a companion or wander the waters of Aquaria alone?

I wrote this review a long time ago...in a seemingly galaxy far, far away. All these years later, this game still rocks and is both beautiful and innovative. It says a lot that the developers stick with it and continue to support upgrades. It is a journey and a beautiful one at that. Keep up the good work, I am a fan. Old review here; I am playing on an IPad1 but with the recent update, am having no software issues...so thanks for that. This game is huge...vast areas to explore! It's taken me a while as the game play is complex and does not offer up its secrets without a struggle...but it is worth the early frustration as new abilities are discovered and exploration of the incredible world of Aquaria is revealed. One small niggling issue; touch screen controls are difficult in some areas and seem a bit slow to respond which is frustrating. Otherwise...WOW. Just brilliant!

One of the best games on the iPad

I own the game on the PC and is testimony to how good it is that I've bought it again. The touch controls work like a dream and I'd even go as far as saying that this is the definitive version.

The game is massive, stuffed with puzzles and action. It features a vast crafting system, numerous gameplay mechanics, tough but fair boss battles and many hidden secrets.

I love this game!

Brilliant game

This is such a great game I was so sad when I finished it nothing can compare it took me ages to get through although I did cheat a bit and looked on line for a bit of help. I can't praise this game enough just wish there was a sequel.
