I'm one of the Wales-sized population who has Tinnitus and the constant 'beeeeeeeeeep' that goes on in my head can be enough to make me want to drive a hammer through my skull. Sure, people say "don't listen to it" which is like telling a fella "don't look at the bikini". It's gonna happen.

This application fixes it for my sort of noggin. Not all the sounds are practical for why I like aSleep, after all, who wants to be welcomed into the loving arms of slumber by the sound of a helicopter or aliens? In fact, I'm not too sure what practical use those sounds serve (may as well add a police chase or a tie-fighter for good measure), but contrary to what reviewers have said for other such apps (where they're cried for sounds to be removed), I just listen to the sounds I like; the sea, the wind and some of the meditations. It helps me sleep, it helps me relax. I couldn't ask for anything more..... but it gives a little more anyway, for example, the timer. That's nice.

What I really like is that the sound continues even when I turn my iPhone off. Good move.

TAKE NOTE: Be very, very careful when installing this largest upgrade. It's a monster biffer of an application and can take longer than a short while. I really wouldn't install it OTA, but rather, stick to iTunes to do the hard work.

Excellent idea - and REALLY cheap

Since electricity costs so much these days I've started turning my PC off at night. A 600watt power supply just to have a fan noise in the room really, really costs these days (nearly £60 a month) and I've really had trouble sleeping without noise. So I've started using the TV in my room with a sleep timer to turn off after an hour just to have some noise in the background plus having the TV on often makes me listen to the news and not get to sleep as well

This app cost me 59p, PENNIES, and does a good job (especially with the Beach sound) of producing some background noise and it's a great help. Now I'm sleeping better (or getting to sleep faster) and saving money by having my computer off. The app also has a build in sleep timer.

Note to those of you wanting an "airplane mode" after the sleep timer finishes - YOU WANT TO GET TO SLEEP, put the phone in airplane mode before you open the app - you don't need emails binging and bonging, text messages honking and phone calls bothering you when you want your Zzz time.

Keep the Seagulls please

I find the sound level is just fine on my ipod Touch, neither too loud or too quiet. The rain sounds a little like someone taking a shower so probably not a sound I would listen to too much. The one I love is the beach, complete with seagull sounds, it's great. Last night I connected the Touch to my clock/radio, turned the sound down to low so that it sounded like distant waves and drifted off to sleep within the 30 minutes timer I'd set imagining that I was at my favourite holiday destination. When I woke in the morning, I lay in bed for over an hour just listening to the waves and seagulls - I really felt like I was on holiday. Definitely worth 59p for the feel good factor it gave me. To the developer - Please don't get rid of the seagulls, just make a version without for those who can't stand them
