Cutting edge film tutorials teaching on the “ real human body” by one of the most acknowledged international experts in the field of clincial anatomy. Filmed at the West Midlands Surgical Training Centre on plastinated prosections the 38 short films (3-8 minutes each) are hands-on demonstations by Prof. Peter Abrahams an expert teacher on integrating human anatomy with the world of medicine.
This is anatomy on the move for students starting to learn the details of the human body. There are 12 videos on different ways to visualise and understand the actual body. For students or doctors reviewing clinical anatomy for examinations there are the 27 films on chest and upper limb - 4 of which are on specific common clinical conditions viz. Coronary Angiography, Colles fracture, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and Breast Disease.
You can watch how the professor demonstrates the functions of tiny nerves, broncioles or heart valves and relates these structures to their normal functions and diseases in clinical medicine often integrating his discussion with modern imaging and 3D CT scanning techniques.
There are also “spot” quizzes on each film to test yourself with follow-up repeats of mistakes as well as clinically relevant MCQs with reasoned answers of the exact type used for USMLE 1 examinations worldwide .
These videos have already been a most popular resource for medical students @ Warwick Post -Graduate Medical School, UK and the subject of publications in medical education and clinical anatomy research journals.
This is your chance to learn the “real human body” as taught by a practising doctor and expert in clinical anatomy with the exciting integration of modern imaging technology and medical practice.
The quality of the video, audio, prosections and disections are second to none. However, the narration needs to be more scripted with less ad libbing and 'umming'. It almost criminal that this app only focuses on thorax and upper limb. In that respect its a little pricey and very incomplete.
