Say hello to a liberating new way to manage your money. B is a new digital banking service for tablet and mobile, that brings together a current and savings account into one amazing personal finance app.
B helps put you back in charge
With tons of clever tools, including a money dashboard, B has everything you need to help you take control of your finances. B can give you a hand planning to save for that special something, or let you know if it thinks you are getting carried away with your spending. So you can spend and save on your own terms.
B can make your money simple
B’s clever budgeting tools have been designed to help make your everyday banking simple and intuitive. From the moment you start using the B app, making a payment or checking your spending is just a few taps away.
B puts you in the know
The more B learns about you, the more it can teach you about your money. So the more you use it, the more it can help you. B looks at how you spend your money and serves up useful tips, insights and stories on your spending.
-B automatically and smartly tags all of your spending into categories like food, travel and eating out. You can also add your own custom tags.
-B lets you set up as many Savings Pots as you like and helps you decide how much you can save and when. You can even give your pots a name, like “Weekend in Paris” or “Brand Spanking New Car”.
-With smart budgeting tools, B always keeps an eye on your money and will send you alerts when it thinks you need to rein in your spending. You can also set up automatic sweeps between accounts.
-B’s supercharged search makes it easy to check transactions and you can filter and sort them to see exactly what you’ve been spending, from clothes to coffee.
-B aims to surprise you with facts and money saving tips that show exactly where your money goes and how it could go further – like showing you all the things you have bought under a tenner.
-As B learns more about your spending habits, it’ll look ahead and predict how the end of your month might work out and the best way to save money. It can give you plenty of warning if things look tight or if it looks like you’ve got a little extra to spend or save.
-Your monthly statements are just a tap away with the B app. View the current month (up to the previous business day) or go for the bigger picture and look at your statements over the last six months. You can even download and save them to your device or through iTunes File Sharing, and tell us when you want to stop receiving paper statements.
- With B's Connect Accounts feature, you can use the B app to view your balances with other banks and building societies.
-B is powered by the people at Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank who are building on 175 years of doing what’s right for customers and inspired by all the new opportunities technology brings.
-Device Requirements apply, subject to status & eligibility. See youandb.co.uk for full T&C’s. To get full functionality both a compatible smartphone & tablet are required.
-You can check if your device is compatible at youandb.co.uk/the-account/devices/
Yorkshire Bank is a trading name of Clydesdale Bank PLC.
-How to Register. To register for the B app you need a B account. If you don't have one already, visit www.youandb.co.uk for more info.
-If you do have one, registration is easy. First, download the B app to your device. You'll then be guided through the process. Before you start, you'll need:
-Your customer number or user name
-The mobile phone linked to your account (as we'll send you a text with a code for you to enter)
-If you've already registered for Internet Banking, your B password, if not, don't worry, you'll be asked to do this as part of the app registration.
Once you've registered, you can start using the app straight away.
In this release we have added IBAN and BIC information to your ‘Account Details’ screen for savings and current accounts, and made sure the app runs nicely if you're running iOS 12.
Ratings and Reviews
Too much and to little
I haven’t got anything good to say about this app is colours are terrible you can’t see the writing is lots of features on it but it’s not customisable I don’t want to see my savings I try to forget about them so I can’t make this appear I get messages all the time even though I’ve turned them off I know that I’m overdrawn I can’t tell when my bank charges are due or how much they are so I have to look for the letters I think they should simplify it and put more effort into letting you customise the colours yourself and the size of the writing sometimes I can’t see how much money I’m transferring and I don’t always want to put a reference to it also the app for the iPad only works one way so you can’t turn the screen up right which is quite annoying when you’re in a rush altogether this app is okay but there is room for a lot more improvement that should simplify it OR make it more customisable In its appearance and size of writing it is also very inaccurate do not trust this balance on your account because it does not show and things disappear off it I only use it now to transfer money I don’t rely on her at all I keep pen and paper of my outgoings
Misleading balance information
The B mobile app fails to meet my expectations or requirements because the displayed balance is frequently different to that of printed statements. That is because the app figure appears to be a hybrid value including “book balances” and transactions expected to process within the next few days. I have spoken to my branch about this and since received a written reply which was quite patronising, encouraging me to complain to the financial ombudsman if unsatisfied. A much better and slicker proposition would be to include the book balance at the close of the business day (consistent with a printed statement) and to separately display the value of forecasted transactions together with their expected processing date. At the moment I consider the reported information nothing short of a jumbled mess of figures which has limited value to me. I can only conclude this product has been launched too soon with insufficient consideration to what customers actually require and expect from a banking app.
Unfortunately when you make your payments we do not control when the companies you have paid take the funds even if the payment is approved by us instantly they can take a few days to fully process this. If you have any suggestions we are always looking for ways to improve on our app, please let us know so that we can change your negative experience!
Problems with this app
This app is great if I want to transfer mo eye from my savings to my current account, or to transfer money from my account to either of my kids’ accounts (they both have the app), but I’ve tried on three separate occasions to transfer money to people for one or two thousand pounds and the error message pops up every time. My daughter had some problems with hers and was told to delete the app and add it again, so after the last transfer of money failed I thought I’d delete the app and add it again. I deleted it off my phone and then couldn’t get it back on again! I rang the B app helpline & spoke to a lady who ‘wasn’t familiar with iphones’ (not helpful on an app helpline) who, after 40 minutes admitted she didn’t know what the problem was and couldn’t help me, so I still don’t have the app on my phone and I still can’t transfer money to other people’s accounts!!!???!!!
Hi there. I'm really sorry you've had this experience :( We would love to try and fix this for you. Could you please call us on the number on the back of your card so we can put this right.
