We know that you like to manage your money when you’re ‘on the go’. That’s why we’ve created this app. It works seamlessly with your mobile operating system, with access to more features than ever before.
Our app allows you to:
• view balances and up to your last 90 transactions
• make transfers between your accounts with us
• create new payments to friends or businesses
• view, amend and cancel standing orders
• view and cancel and Direct Debits
• make the most of Touch ID (with a compatible device)
You’ll still need to log on to full Internet Banking at firstdirect.com regularly to access all services. We recommend you do this at least every 14 days. Some of the Internet Banking services that you can only access by logging on at firstdirect.com are:
• full statement information
• details of monthly charges, fees and interest
• sending, receiving and viewing attachments of secure messages
To use this first direct Banking on the go app you need to be a first direct customer and have set up your telephone banking security.
We don’t charge you for this app, but we can’t say the same for your network provider, who may charge you for downloading and usage. You’ll be responsible for these charges.
We recommend that you don’t use this app abroad, but if you do, you’ll need to make sure that it’s permitted by local law, and remember your network provider’s charges may be higher.
The app may be withdrawn at any time; we will tell you if this is going to happen.
It’s important that you only download apps in accordance with the terms and conditions that you have agreed with Apple.

Finally I can setup a new bank transfer via the app, previously I had to call or go to the full website. I also really like the screen that loads when you open the app that shows what accounts have had changes since last logging on, I keep a very close eye on the money going in and out of my account so this very quickly tells me if I need to look at the transactions in more detail. I've been with first direct for 15+ years and don't have a bad word to say about them, when I try to service my other financial products on the phone I realise why first direct are so easy to deal with - never press 1, press 2 etc, UK call centres, friendly & helpful staff & straight through to a real person within a few rings. I have only had to wait more than a few rings 1 or 2 times in my whole time with first direct. I clearly have a lot of ♥️ for first direct!
Some basic functionality but mostly broken
This app is supposed to provide some internet banking services, and a facility to create and use a digital secure key for access to more advanced services such as authorising payments to new accounts. The digital secure key facilities don't work. You can sometimes create a new key, and sometimes it thinks you have set up your phone for the key when you haven't. The form for entering password to get the secure key is broken. It greys out the box for generating the key when you enter more than four letters in the password box. And with all these problems, one has to question the security of this app.
Too Long Winded
I have been with First Direct for 25 years and have seen all the on line access platforms come and go. Latest iOS version just has too many steps involved to get what you need done whilst on the go. The 'What's been going on' screen is just the account statement screen repeated unnecessarily and needs dismissing every time you view an account. Transferring money is also long winded. I have used the First Direct App every day for years and my heart sinks now when I tap the icon of this latest version. Hope this gets sorted in a more streamlined version.
