Ratings and Reviews
Prepare for your GCSEs.
A brilliant app for revision and notes and it presents what a good revision app should be, but the only annoying thing is the fact that you have to chose your exam board every time you enter the app, (for all subjects apart from religious studies) and there is no clear way to track progress in the ‘Test Yourself’ quizzes. I believe that the tracking ability could be improved for all subjects, just so that you know where you may be struggling.
Thanks for leaving a review. Nearly all of the app subjects have an exam board filter which allows you to quickly find the revision resource you need. Is the problem you're having with all your subjects or just with a select few? the tracking ability is something that we are looking into to help students with their revision. This does not immediately help, I know, but I'm glad to say we are continuously looking into better ways to help. Thanks once again.
Good but stuff missing
Hi, year 10 student speaking. This app is a really good premise but I just wish it functioned better...
- Everytime I go onto the app the subjects have reset onto what I had last year, meaning I constantly have to edit my options
- As well as this, it says you only have to choose the exam board once but I have to choose it everytime I reopen the app :(
A few suggestions for improvements:
- Label the units. For example I do OCR gateway sciences and they use a labelling system (e.g. C3.2) for organising the topics and sub-topics. Something like this would make finding the relative resources a lot easier.
- Add more subjects: I do GCSE Economics and there is only a GCSE business option, which is a tad annoying
I hope you take this review into consideration as this app has the potential to be very brilliant.
Thanks for sending in your review of the Bitesize app. To answer your opening point, I gather that you used the app from being in Year 9 as you say you are in Year 10 and said that the app resets itself to 'last year'. If this is the case I can say that because the app is purposed for those from year 10 and 11 - as stated in the app description - it thinks that you are in Year 11 because you set up your choices last year and are likely to be studying the same subjects. However, I think it may be a good idea to remove and reinstall the app. Also, check and see if the same problem occurs when accessing through a desktop.
Labelling the units as you know them may confuse other users who may associate endothermic and exothermic reactions with the topic chemical reactions rather than C3.2. We do coordinate with subject specialists to ensure that the study guides are accessible and understood across all exam boards.
To answer your final point, we found through research that Economics GCSE was not as popular or in as much need for resources as other subjects. This most likely does not help you now, but I hope that it gives you some clarity on how we decide and carry out processes in Bitesize.
I really appreciate your honest review and I hope that you continue to use Bitesize. Thanks again.
