If you choose to enable the display of weather at your current location [Settings/Privacy>Locations Services], the app will provide you with weather information based upon your current location. Your precise location is kept on your device, and once the app has determined the location of the closest populated location for which weather information is available, your precise location is not accessed by the BBC. No other personal data relating to you (such as a username, email address or unique device identifier) is sent to the BBC. Your information is anonymous, nevertheless the BBC will keep your information secure and not share it with anyone in accordance with the BBC’s Privacy and Cookies Policy, available at http://www.bbc.co.uk/privacy. You can choose to disable the display of weather at your current location [Phone Settings/Privacy/Location Services/BBC Weather], and then the app will no longer automatically detect your current location.
What's New in Version 1.1.2
Minor bug fixes and improvements including fix to show the sunrise/sunset time for each day.
I've been using this for several months.
This is a nicely laid out App, especially on the iPad in landscape. It offers a choice of locations in a list and easy to add more or switch between them, also several days ahead and an hourly forecast for the current day.
No, it's not always completely accurate in its forecasts, but they all draw data from the same sources so that won't change much, whichever App is used. That said, I reckon it's pretty good as the hours get closer.
My favourite and a big improvement on what I had before.
I have been using this app for some months now and consider it to be the best of it's kind. At home the GPS initially highlighted places nearby rather than my true location. I reported this problem and got an immediate response that it would be corrected at next update and it was.
I would like to see info added on wind gusting speeds as can be seen on Met Office website.
Some problems with accuracy when forecast for now says rain when sun is shining and vice versa. Overall though I like it the best.
I'd religiously used the Met Office app previously but the visuals in the Beeb's are much better: it's see-at-a-glance and navigation between favourite areas, intra-day and day-to-day is easier. Occasionally I'll still use the Met Office (and of course the Beeb's data is sourced there anyway) but only if I want more detail, eg. the pressure map, but I reckon I use the Beeb's maybe 5-10 times a day ... does this mark me as an obsessive?
