Beginners Guide For GarageBand 4+

Good for the beginnner. Would be good if instruments & loops matched those with the base download.

This tutorial is really helpful for a novice like myself.

My approach is to play the tutorial on one screen with garageband open on another so that I can follow each of the steps and examples as I go.

Unfortunately it would appear that the author has downloaded additional instruments and samples which I can’t quite replicate. Not tragic but it is frustrating. A case in point is lesson 7. At around 1:19 into the chapter, the tutorial shows a EDM Bass Synthesizer with Dub Crush Bass. This is unfortunately not available on Garageband with all free instruments etc. downloaded. Thus when goinging into smart controls in that section, I can’t find the same ones. Another is chapter 8 at 1:14 or so where the Waves Motion Bass - Fingerstyle Bass loop is used, sorry don’t have that either.

For the way my brain works, that is a problem.

It would be good if they would tell you what “extras” they have downloaded and from where or just work from the base version so that the student can replicate each of the steps. Also missing would be the same sample files that were used each step of the way.

So the tutorial has some way to go to be extremely helpful in my view.

It does help, however, and I have learned things that would have taken much longer via trial and error.
