Was great, now isn't

I’ve had this a year or so and it made an audible improvent to all files and switched my chord DAC between different file resolutions but now it just screws everything up as often as not. One for the bin unless an upgrade is issued soon. Please fix even if it’s a cost upgrade, it was really good.

super unreliable & glitchy: unuseable & frustrating music playback experience

I was occasionally able to get this working for an hour or two at a time but generally using a Mac Pro 2013 with Chord Mojo DAC found it extremely glitchy and unreliable. Weird stuttering of the audio would develop with some configurations but changing settings arbitrarily might or might not fix on any give occasion. The sound quality was not demonstrably superior to simply playing back in iTunes and selecting the appropriate output sample rate in AudioMidiSettings. Furthermore, 90% of the gapless playback does not work (compared to allways working when merely using iTunes).

I sought refund from the developer as it is demonstably unfit for its stated purpose but they have not responded so I will now contact Apple directly.

I am likely to get Audirvana instead and trying their demo at the moment: much more money, but then it works and sounds much better than just playing through iTunes so I guess you get what you pay for (and actually you get DSD playback and three months’ tidal membership thrown in). I will also consider JRiver Media Centre but have not demoed that yet.

Unfortunately, not worth a try

I was aware of some issues having read various mixed reports and decided to take a punt anyway. I found it worked well with the latest High Sierra OSX at first, although there seemed to be an issue with gapless playback. Then I noticed iTunes would crash frequently, and since I have a headless Mac mini set-up, that’s a pain. So I emailed BitPerfect support a week ago (as the software asked me to do if I had a problem) and I have had no reply which is unacceptable. I’ve since moved on to Audirvana which is much more expensive but well supported and works perfectly. I think BitPerfect could learn from the Audirvana business model: offer a free trial first before you ask customers to buy. £10 is not a lot of money and is much cheaper than other software but I have still paid for something that doesn’t work properly and never will again. Maybe that’s the problem; it’s too cheap for this type of product. Shame.
