Might be good if it worked
Very disappointed with this app, it could be good but does not work on iPad Air 2, for all I know it may not work on anything any more. Screen becomes unresponsive when recording or using trash icon, only way to stop recording is to power off iPad. I left a voicemail message with Musicroom but got no call back. I emailed support and almost two weeks later the only response I had got was an email asking me to rate how they dealt with my query. I think that says it all to me, product does not work and customer support in my experience was none existent. I only bought it because the price had been reduced to 79p so feel slightly conned. I suppose I could record the backing tracks into a DAW that does work and then add vocal or guitar with some effects, otherwise Blues Writer is pretty useless to me. Only got myself to blame I guess as it's not been updated since 2010.
I use this app to improvise blues lead over the backing tracks then play it back to see where I can improve.
The tracks are good quality and it picks up my guitar great from my amp and you can also change the balance of volume between the track and my recording. There is more to the app than this but this is what I use it for. It is basically a great app for writing blues songs.
I have given it 5 stars because the price is a quarter of what you would pay just to get backing tracks, so when you add everything else it is great value.
Why I fell out of love with this app
At first this seemed really good. Write your lyrics and then try to sing a song using the small range of ten backing tracks. You can export this to soundcloud and email etc. But this range of tracks is very small and dare I say it - quite uninspiring.
Ok so what if you want to use your own music which you have recorded or you have bought some royalty free backing tracks which you have imported into iTunes?
Forget it. You can use a track in your iTunes to sing your song but then you can't export your creation because of 'copyright restrictions'. Oh please. I am going to delete this and use another more sensible app.
