If you love your boat you have to take care of it every day: just like your home, managing a boat involves a series of deadlines and payments.
Thanks to Boat Note you can keep everything under control and avoid unpleasant surprises, whether they be fines or navigational problems. You can monitor the status of you mooring contract and its cost, ordinary and extraordinary maintenance schedules (from antifouling treatments to waxing your teak, painting the topside, engine maintenance, zinc and changing spark plugs), and set up a long series of expiration date alerts that the app will remind you of each time you log in. When does your hull or third party liability insurance expire? Did you remember to renew your insurance for the tender or have the life raft checked? Did you check that the flares and other supplies are still good? With Boat Note you can sail safe and sound. But that’s not all: by turning on your iPad or iPhone you can check the cost of buying accessories, both occasional and yearly purchases, from mooring to maintenance fees. Fantastic. BoatNote has solved all my concerns about forgetting dates and documents especially when traveling. The app has a simple and elegant structure which allows you to have a record of all relevant information about YOUR BOAT always with you (it even teaches you what are the key information you should know about your boat). The other key sections are MANAGEMENT, EXPENSES, and DUE DATES. Under 'management' you can keep track of anything that has been done to your boat (maintenance, refitting, engine, etc.) and of any active insurance. The 'expenses' section is organized in such a way that you can easily obtain and send/print a report of your expenses (very useful when you want to sell your boat). Finally the 'due dates' section allows to set alarms for the most pressing deadlines, and it reminds you of anything you want to do on your boat. For each section, you can upload copies of documents, images, as well as notes. The design is elegant and effective and leaves the pictures of your boat as protagonist. My only criticism: what if one has more than one boat?! For a few of us it would have been useful to have the option "add a boat" and have a summary of all our beauties in the first page :)

This is probably one of the best apps to keep all my boating documents organized. It is well laid out and easy to navigate. I can also personalize it, which is nice. I really like the fact that you can have a general overview of your expenses over various time periods, which really helps with budgeting. I would definitely recommend it!
