Functional but less than optimal
I quite like the BA app, but I think there is room for improvement. For instance the content can be improved with a view to helping the user, the app could be made more similar to the BA website. Also at times the system appears to be down which defeats the purpose of having an app, hence that I always print out a hard copy of my boarding pass. Other times the system cannot recognise me, when it first happened I got quite worried as I thought there was something wrong with my account. More recently at a trip from Newark to London, I received no notifications from the app, eg when I travel from London abroad the app gives me the boarding pass in the notification centre, not at Newark. So all in all it does not seem reliable, it is temperamental and it works differently at different places.
And recently, I have noticed more glitches with the app. For instance my upcoming flight from Dallas to Portland and from Portland to Dallas were rescheduled. My BA account was updated nicely but the BA app shows two flights from Dallas to Portland and two flights from Portland to Dallas!! This is very disappointing...
Good potential, bad performance
I agree with some of the comments below. The app is good, has a good layout and is relatively intuitive to use.
However, it often takes you to a separate mobile website, where you have to log back in, or at least you are asked to, loosing the link you actually wanted to reach.
Another issue is with the upgrade options. Yesterday I lost one hour trying to use the "special temporary offer" for an upgrade. It would take you all the way to the payment, to then say "error", please contact customer service. I called, and there were no free space. Why do you even offer that option..!?
It just needs some logical improvements.
Nice app if it worked a bit better
The problem with this is that it's all really nice and slick looking, but when you actually try to do anything it seems to take you back to a separate mobile website where you need to start again.
The latest update said it was responding to feedback to make upgrades easier...can't see any difference myself - got a flight to Costa Rica this weekend and when I click either of the upgrade buttons on the screen it just takes me back to another mobile web page with nothing to do with upgrades, or gives an error message. If an upgrade is not available for the flight then the options should not show.
