• Flappy Goat mini game
I have enjoyed playing the whole series and this one is no exception. I'll admit that I was a little worried when I saw pictures (before purchasing) about the 3D-ish graphics, but I found that they blended well with a 2D background, creating a beautiful atmosphere. The acting is mostly very good, only let down somewhat by the voice actress for Nico through her over acting. I was very glad to recognise the same, friendly tone of the actor playing George Stobbart. If I were to nit-pick I might point out the over-the-top and obviously inauthentic accents, but they didn't actually bother me that much when it came to moving the story along. The plot is very intriguing and I'm very excited to see what happens next.
Which brings me to the one thing that makes me give this game 4 stars in stead of 5: the fact that the second episode will have to be purchased. I believe that this entire game was funded through a Kickstarter campaign, so, if the developers needed more money, why didn't they just ask for more right then? I honestly feel a little cheated, though it won't stop me from continuing to play the game. Many have objected to the plot twist/cliffhanger but I found it enjoyable.
Could be the Best Broken Sword!
I have been a fan of the series for years, and this is so far my second fave in the series after the 1st one (not the Directors cut) although I hope there is more diversity in locations in the second half, and harder puzzles too, this has a great atmosphere with great storytelling and characters and is a bargain at £2.99. For those who feel this price point for the 1st part & the paying presumably a similar cost for the second through in app purchase is steep, I will remind you that you are getting the exact same game as for home computers & a portable console, for a fraction of the price charged on those other platforms.
You gotta get this game!!!
How long have I waited for the next instalment? Too long! Fantastic return of the series. I was a little disappointed with 3 & 4 with the introduction of 3D graphics but this has the right balance between 2D and 3D. If only all game developers could actually concentrate on the gameplay like Broken Sword does. A definite must buy for your app catalogue. Loved the return a few old characters. And for all those who are complaining about the price? £5 for a Broken Sword game, any Broken Sword game, is a bargain and I'd gladly pay the same again for part 2......just not sure if I can wait.....
