Ratings and Reviews
I said on a Sunrizer Synth review that every quality synth has a signature feature. With Sunrizer it's the cleverest mod wheel. I also said it was the best around. If you could only have one then you would probably choose it. Cassini Synth is beautiful in sound and look with some very smart and professional touches (like 2 different record buttons, 1 to start recording, 1 to start on first pressed key, tidy, no need to go to menu to change rec settings!). It's signature (not unique) feature is fully customisable step sequencing of its filters, LFOS and ARP. It has some great sounds and overall a clean, crisp, smooth, and yet sharp sound (yes, all of the above!). Cassini is a synth of genuine quality, to the degree that I believe the question should be " if you could only have 2 synths what would they be. Cassini and Sunrizer are pretty different, and yet both shout Techno, Techno, and also give it dub step style. I actually spend hours making my own presets on both, which is something I have never seriously been bothered with. Why am I the first to write a review after these months, marketing, what?, baffled. Oh! And they're both easy to understand even though I've only been an amateur/casual step programmer over 20years (brainwashed into doing a "proper job son") and can't play an instrument. If this software (as opposed to expensive hardware) was around back in the day most of us wouldn't have "proper jobs". Get Cassini.
Nice little synth
I've got more synth apps than I dare think about, but after having the iPhone version for a few years decided to splash out on the iPad version as well.
The reason I bought this is for the simplicity of the UI and straight forward usability of the sounds it produces. It's also gentle on my system resources so I can run this with a few other apps via Audiobus on my old ipad 2.
Very usable synth - it doesn't have the whistles and bells that some synths have, but that's not always what you need anyway, and this does the job without any fuss.
I'll use this a lot. Only slight niggles are the preset patch names, and a few more wouldn't go amiss, plus the knobs can be a bit fiddly. Still a very worthwhile addition to my collection though.
Up there with the best!
Cassini is amazing! That's the summary of this feature rich, analogue modelled, beautiful sounding iOS synthesiser. Cassini doesn't pretend to be an emulation of other well known synths from yesteryear. Instead, it has its own unique identity, comprised of an easy to navigate interface and endless possibilities for synthesis sound creation. Cassini should be placed up there with the best synthesiser apps on the market today.
