Anyone who played gauntlet as a kid will Iove this

I think the majority of the low scoring reviews must be from the generation after me. If you remember the original US Gold Gauntlet game it never had a story or shops - warrior, Mage, thief and archer, bad guys, lots of levels, play until you go cross eyed. The developers have provided a blast from the past with souped up graphics. If you had a spectrum or C64 in the 80s this is for you. If you want immersive RPG, get an Xbox.

Good but disappointingly shallow

Not a bad game by any means. The graphics are nice and polished, the controls work very well, and the audio is passable.

The problem is the lack of any real sense of achievement or progress. You're essentially solving a simple maze while clearing waves of (very similar) monsters. The inclusion of keys to open locked doors adds some interest but not a great deal.

You level up and get points to assign to your stats. It makes little noticeable difference. You get treasure. You can't seem to spend it anywhere. You get the odd temporary power-up. Very temporary.

If you've played the 16 bit classic Alien Breed, this is similar but without the sense of achievement when you complete a level.

Ok I only played an hour so far.. maybe it'll improve.. If so I'll revise my review.

This game is really fun to just chill out it flows well. It just lacks story and a few key elements are stopping this game from becoming incredible for example the addition of custom weapons and inventories etc. What's really bugging me is I can not purchase the DLC at all I have the money in my account but I see no way of downloading it at all this is quite annoying as I really want to play it
