Customer Reviews

Ruined. Yet Again.

With every update this app gets worse. You used to be able to add your ticket to passbook straight from the app - now you cannot. Now you have to wait for an email before getting any ticket confirmation at all - to be fair they have just included the ability to add the ticket to passbook now once the email is received but for Unlimited customers, you can only book 1 ticket in advance (a sudden change from 3 for unlimited premium customers), thanks for not telling us about that little change.
This is a real backwards and inconvenient step.
You used to be able to see at a glance which screens a film was being shown in according to its times - now you cannot. You only know when you get your email confirmation - so now you can't choose the superscreen or a larger screen if you'd prefer it.
Why take away some good and necessary functions just to add some patronising instructions on how to redeem your ticket?
Far from being an improvement, the 'update' has made booking tickets more frustrating, inconvenient and a poor experience for Cineworld customers. Rather than waiting another 6 months for an update that takes away even more of the limited functionality; can any one from Cineworld respond, apologise and tell us what will be done about this mess before they lose more customers?

As if this app could get much worse...

I gave it two stars because at the end of the day, it does what it has to do, but the whole thing could be a lot more streamlined.

I assume that like myself, most people will go to the "Cinemas" tab first, to see what is on at the cinema they will be watching the film at. They will then be required to select the film they wish to view, before selecting the Cinema at which they wish to view the film, all over again... Useful(!)

They will then have to log in (every time they use the app) to book seats for a certain showing. A Facebook login function has been added for improved efficiency in logging in! (Oh wait...) of course this doesn't work because Facebook "doesn't have the required information"!

Seats are then finally booked before it issues your tick-- well, sort of issues your ticket. You are required to wait for an email rather than just adding it to Passbook from the in-app screen, except that once you receive the ticket, you STILL cannot add the ticket to your Passbook. COMPLETELY USELESS!

I don't know what the hell you were thinking with this last update. It shouldn't be that hard to improve functionality.

The only bonus is that you are now able to save friends' cards.

Some simple things that would make this a 5* app:
- Streamline film and showings selection process
- Streamline login process
- Keep users logged in
- Get Passbook functionality back!

Trying to get value for money

So, after paying over £20 to book my wife and myself into watching light shone on a wall for 90 minutes (how do you do it and make money?!) I thought this app might at least make me feel I'm getting value. Maybe I can add the tickets to the Wallet app so I can flash my phone and feel smug -- surely worth a £20 note.

Nope. Can't do. Cineworld website says I can. The email sent to me with my booking says I can (that email still refers to Passbook, which was withdrawn two years ago). I wonder if the folks Cineworld actually know this. Then again, I wonder if the people at Cineworld actually know anything? The evidence we have isn't convincing.

Oh, and watch for negative reviews like this one being swept away when a new version of this app is released. That's a nice little trick to stiffle criticism. "We fixed some bugs" (i.e. made a pixel blue rather than slightly blue) and all the reviews start again! Still, look to the left. 1.5 stars from 482 reviews at the present time across all versions. That might be a record.
