CityCyclist is a quick and easy city bike route planner. It finds the best route for you, whether you want to get there as quickly as possible or meander through quiet side streets.

- Find your destination quickly, by address, postcode or just the name.

- Quickly explore your route by dragging across the hill profile to fly along it.

- Navigate without stopping — optionally attach your phone to your handlebars and follow your route live.

- Choose from three types of route to suit your riding style: fast, balanced or quiet.

- Jump to your most frequent destinations in just two taps.

What’s New

Version 1.2.0

Added a choice of three map styles: streets, outdoors and a satellite view. Also fixed a bug which could cause the app to crash if you selected an option that was already selected, and made some performance improvements.

CycleStreets jazzed up

This app basically relies on the tried-and-tested CycleStreets routing algorithms, dolled up with a slick interface. Planning a journey is simplicity itself: a single dialogue box allows you to fill in both From and To locations, and lets you set routing difficulty and other options. The vector maps are unusually pretty, and the fact that the altitude profile of found routes doubles as a scrubber, allowing you to quickly scroll through the entire route, is an excellent touch. (One tiny inconsistency in spelling: the 1.2.0 release uses both “kilometres” and “meters”, not that most people will notice the re/er switch.)

If that’s all you want out of a cycling planner, you’ll be delighted, but ultimately this is a somewhat limited app. I’d rather go with the dowdy and rather annoying CycleStreets original for detailed route breakdowns and cycle-centric mapping layers. The fact is, sadly, that the killer cycling routing app has yet to be made.

A bit disappointed

Two reasons:
1- no live direction makes it hard to use in practice
2- the app does not propose the routes along the Thames river as an option (Hammersmith / Chiswick / Barnes banks) whilst they are the nicest part of London cycling!
No far from being very good though. The navigation at bottom of screen to go through the route is very handy.

Great for planning routes....

Great for planning routes, very precise with mileage from a to b with pin on map, recommend it, also use google maps along with it to see the difference between routes.
