Got into this as so many of the kids in school were playing it. Some for several years! It is ridiculously addictive (cured me of Candy Crush!) what I love is a) the cooperative nature of belonging to a clan, and working together to share resources and tactics to compete in wars, b) the idea of saving up and budgeting/prioritising your clan improvement needs [as a secondary maths teacher this is a great way to encourage and explain "proportion" and for professional/child protection I will never link to the social media facilities] c) breaking down the barriers, as you can join forces with and take on clans from around the world in real time. There is a real sense of community, as I have benefitted hugely from the experience of others, and seek to share with those newer to the game. d) yes it is a bind waiting to save up to buy resources and I flatly REFUSE to spend a single penny/cent, but thankfully, although that is a tempting route I see kids drawn to, I believe patience IS a virtue, [Hint: save your gems and get a third builder Asap,], more annoying is being raided and not being able to fully defend your reserves, but then you need to learn to adapt your defensive designs and choose your attacking raids more carefully. Some review complaints are just from the lazy/greedy "instant gratification" generation. What can I say: I love it. Thanks.. Gotta go, my clan's being raided... M u s t. U p g r a d e ! ,
I regret putting money into this game
I'm up to town hall level 9 now. When you get here this game takes weeks to get enough resources to upgrade one building and then days or weeks to wait for that building to upgrade. WEEKS! There's actually not much to do, because attacking other players gets you very little resources and removes your shield. You're lucky if you get 100,000 elixir, and that won't even cover what it cost to train your troops (you don't get your training costs back, EVEN IF YOU WIN!), so what's the point in attacking? To say it's a grind is an understatement. Also, starting a clan is a nightmare because the only people that join are illiterate time-wasters.
So... What did I do? I gave in and bought some gems. Like you're meant to. But the thing is, they hardly get you anything either. You could spend thousands and you'd probably only be able to upgrade your buildings up one, or maybe two, levels. I really regret spending money on this game. My advice would be to avoid doing that, it won't make you feel good.
But on the plus side, it's fun in the early stages and the times when you can actually upgrade a building, you do momentarily feel a sense of reward. So for that it gets an extra star.
Amazing, a few improvements could make it way better though
Normally I would never do reviews on games but this game is so addictive! I get why people feel the need to buy gems but DON'T! It's a waste of money and it just makes the game boring. Only a couple things that could make this game 10x better; war camps, where you can store your war troops because it's just frustrating when you run out of elixer during war so you can't finish your troops or farm because you already have some troops in your camp. Also maybe donating spells?? This one doesn't really matter too much but it would be cool. Also personal messaging so you can mail your friends or searching other players so you can find your friends, it would definitely improve the game so much, if you agree please spread the news, make reviews on it or email Supercell about it, thanks for reading :) oh and just something else, new troops that attack clan castle troops or rage up troops (kinda like the healer) would be so cool, I know you are making more troops (it says in the dark barracks) and I hope you take these ideas into mind :D
