Very engaging...

I’ve been looking for a decent note taking solution for a while.. from post it notes, to notebooks and now Mac software.. i’ve tried lots and non of them seemed to gel with me. I took the plunge and purchased Clear it does not disappoint, it’s incredibly simple, yet has something that about it that engages me and entices me to use it. I’m a very forgetful freelancer so somthing that i actually enjoy using is essential to keep me on track and this seems to fit the bill.

Couple of minor suggestions that would get it the 5 stars from me:

- Archive/export lists. when a task is complete it’s greyed out, but it’s so easy to accidentally click the clear button and eliminiate the list. I liked to use my lists as a sort of evidence sheet so i could demonstate what tasks i’ve completed so it would be amazing if they were able to be archived(and hidden away) rather than deleted.

- An option to hide the dock icon when using menu bar, i don’t see the need to have both of them and i definitely prefer the menu bar method. I can see you have an option to hide the menu bar icon, but not the other way around.

- Chromeless window, the big gray bar spoils the really nice design.. i’m sure there are much better ways to handle this, take for example AlfredApp (a gradient border with small cog to access preferences lists or quit.

- Multiple list snapping. I love how i can pull my lists into a different window, it would be even better if the windows could be snapped together.

It’s great!

Being at university, on a film and TV production course, also running around on external productions, I have a bunch of essays, projects and also personal stuff to remember like making sure I pay my MOT on time. I’m on my mac a lot when I’m in to do work, so I downloaded Clear as a better ‘to do list’ and I really love it. The fact that its colourful and you can change the colour of the lists is great, it always stands out on my desktop and reminds me ‘oh yeah, gotta do that’. I also like that you can have as many lists as you want, I don’t have to many but the ones I do have a pretty full. I like that their easy to make, reorganise and delte.

I’d say the only dissapointment would be that there isn’t a calander feature on the list, so that I could put an urgent reminder. But then that clutters it up and makes it more complex; it’s already simple and I love it for it’s simplicity.

This app (for me) syncs so well with my iPhone. I have had no problems using iCloud, changes I make on my Mac instantly appear on my phone! The app is amazing to use on the iPhone and just as easy and rewarding to use on the Mac, when using a trackpad or Magic Mouse!

I have no complaints as this app looks good, works well and is always getting updated and improved. It allows me to keep track of homework, shopping and ideas. It has made my life a lot easier…

If I had to choose something to pick on, I would have to say that I don’t think the app is best designed for people not using a trackpad or Magic Mouse, and it is a big investment if you’re not sure how much you’ll use it. In that case, I would purchase the iOS application first, and see if it makes you more organised!
